SCH 5th Birthday

BirthdaySHILBOTTLE COMMUNITY HALL 5th BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
SEPTEMBER 2015
“REFLECTIONS AND DREAMS”

This September sees the 5th birthday of Shilbottle Community Hall. To celebrate this we are holding a special Autumn Event on Saturday September 26th from Noon to 2pm. There will be the usual Autumn Fair stalls but this year we will be serving soup for lunch and be having a display about the past five years and the next five years, along with a special birthday cake. We would like you to be involved in this.

When the Hall was first built, a five year business plan was put in place for the Hall and so, as the Hall celebrates it’s fifth birthday, the Management Committee would like to take the opportunity to look back at the business plan and see how the Hall has done compared to what was predicted and generally reflect on the last 5 years. We also need to write a new business plan for the coming five years ~ where do we see the Hall going? What are our dreams?

As part of these “Reflections and Dreams”, the Management Committee would like to hear from those who use, or have used, the Hall and would like to invite groups and individuals to put pen to paper and give us some feedback as follows:

1. How has your use of the Hall developed or declined over the last five years?
2. What would you like to see at the Hall, what events would you like to attend, how do you think we can develop the building to become more user friendly and how do you see the Hall developing over the next five years?

We would encourage you to be honest in your reflections of the first five years and to be as inventive and creative as you like in thinking about the next five years ~ do you think we need to make any changes to the building? Are there any problems and how can we look to rectify them? Are there certain events you would like to see happening? Nothing is too big or outrageous to consider ~ some things may not happen overnight, some may take many years to come to fruition, some may need large capital grants ~ but we need to think and dream big to create and develop our facilities for the future.

Sheets are available to complete for the five year “Reflections and Dreams”, from the Hall and on the website. If you could complete a sheet and return it by Friday September 11th to Gill Bray at the Hall along with any photos or objects to illustrate them, we will put together a display for the Autumn Event on September 26th.

“Reflections and Dreams” will be welcome from anyone in the community ~ the Hall is a Community Facility, run by the Community for the Community and the more people involved the better.

And finally, please come along on Saturday September 26th to see what response we’ve had, to join in the fun of the Autumn Fair and to enjoy a piece of Birthday Cake!
